"Honored by Pope Paul II with the "Bene-marenti" medal for 60 years of service as a priest's housekeeper on June 12, 1988".  

The Bene-marenti medal was given by the Catholic Church from 1775 to 1846 for military merit, given to those who fought courageously in battle.  Later in 1925 the medal was changed to recognize persons of the Catholic Church for both civil and military exceptional service.
