On October 7, 2009 in Afghanistan, Spc. George Walter Cauley vehicle was attack with an improvised explosive device by insurgents. He died of wounds on October 10, 2009 at the age of 24.
Spc. George Walter Cauley was warded the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart.
